Episode 61: A Look at Twitter & Pinterest for Small Business Owners

This month we are discussing social media marketing and looking at the different platforms available to small business owners today to help spread the word about their products and services. Not every platform is right for every business. The key is finding which platform works best for you. Before we jump into today’s platforms of choice, I wanted to review some of the benefits of including social media in your business marketing strategy. While there are several ways available to market your business, social media has the most direct and wide-reaching way to connect with your audience.

Benefits of social media marketing

With such widespread usage and versatility, social media is one of the most effective free channels for marketing your business today. Here are some of the specific benefits of social media marketing:

  • Humanize your business
  • Drive traffic
  • Generate leads and customers
  • Increase brand awareness
  • Build relationships

Today we move on to two more very powerful platforms, Twitter and Pinterest. Both with their own unique ways that each small business can utilize to drive a successful marketing campaign. Let’s start with the giant Twitter.

How a small business can use Twitter in their marketing strategy

Twitter is one of the older social media platforms, and it has 336 million monthly active Twitter users. Twitter is a powerful marketing tool for small businesses. It is a free and easy way to market your brand, engage with customers, and increase traffic to your website.

How a small business can use Pinterest in their marketing strategy

Pinterest is an online social media platform that allows users to create and share collections of images, videos, or other content known as “pins.” With Pinterest, small businesses can create a visually appealing online presence. They can use this site for marketing purposes by incorporating their company’s products or services into their pins.

So far in this series, we have reviewed four of the major social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest. Next week we will take a look at the latest social platform to sweep the younger generation Tiktok and its predecessor Snapchat. Two platforms that can be equally powerful in connecting with your audience.
