Welcome back to the Empower Her Business Accelerator podcast! I’m your host, Philippa Channer, and this month we’re digging into the business activities that actually drive your growth. If you’ve been tuning in regularly, you know we’re on a journey to help you build a smarter, more intentional business—one that works for you and not the other way around.
Last week in Episode 182, we focused on identifying the tasks that genuinely move your business forward. This week, we’re taking that knowledge a step further—because knowing what matters is one thing, but knowing what to do first is where the magic happens. Prioritizing effectively is what helps you move out of reaction mode and into your CEO mindset, where you’re confidently steering the ship, not scrambling to bail water.
So whether you’re mapping out your next big launch, managing a team, or still wearing all the hats—this episode is designed to help you find clarity, ditch the busywork, and create real momentum.

(00:00) Welcome & Episode Overview
We begin by grounding ourselves in the “why.” Summer is a strategic season—while many slow down, it’s your chance to ramp up for a powerful fall. I remind you how the Empower Her Program can support you during this planning phase. [INSERT LINK] to explore your options.
(01:00) Step 1: Identify High-Value vs. Low-Value Tasks
All tasks are not created equal—and if you’re spending hours tweaking your website or organizing your inbox, it might be time to reassess. I share a real example where I spent four hours trying to automate something that only saves me 15 minutes per week. That’s a classic case of a low-value rabbit hole.
High-value tasks? Think lead generation, offer creation, follow-ups, and collaborations—things that actually bring revenue or visibility.
👉 Action Step: Write down your top 3 high-value and top 3 low-value tasks. Prioritize your schedule to reflect what truly drives results.
(04:00) Step 2: Use the Eisenhower Matrix
This powerful tool helps you organize tasks into four categories:
- Urgent & Important (e.g., client deadlines)
- Important but Not Urgent (e.g., content creation, networking)
- Urgent but Not Important (e.g., checking emails, last-minute posts)
- Neither Urgent nor Important (e.g., excessive admin work)
I walk you through how this matrix can become your daily compass and reduce decision fatigue.
📌 Action Step: Review your current to-do list and categorize each task. Focus first on the urgent + important quadrant, and delegate or defer the rest.
(06:00) Step 3: Set a “Top 3” Focus for Each Day
Multitasking is a myth. Instead of juggling 15 to-dos, I want you to choose the three most impactful things you can do today. This method keeps you grounded and helps you end the day feeling accomplished—not exhausted.
For example, if your business goal is client acquisition, your top three might include writing a pitch email, updating your services page, and posting a strong CTA on social.
✅ Action Step: Every morning, list your “Top 3” and tackle them before anything else. Let everything else fit around those, not the other way around.
(07:30) Step 4: Set Boundaries to Protect Your Focus
Distractions are inevitable—but boundaries are intentional. I encourage you to carve out “deep work” hours where you turn off notifications, silence your phone, and go heads-down. Batch your admin tasks. And most importantly—learn to say no to things that don’t serve your current goals.
If it’s not aligned with your growth priorities, it’s a distraction in disguise. Saying “no” now doesn’t mean “never”—it just means you’re honoring your current season.
🔒 Action Step: Choose one new boundary you’ll implement this week—maybe it’s blocking off two hours of focus time or declining one non-essential meeting.
💬 Final Thoughts
At the end of the day, prioritizing isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing what matters most. When you focus on what truly drives results—while letting go of the rest—you’re not just working smarter, you’re reclaiming your power as the visionary behind your business.
So let’s recap:
- Know the difference between high- and low-value tasks
- Use the Eisenhower Matrix to sort wisely
- Set your “Top 3” priorities each day
- Protect your time with boundaries that support your goals
Next week in Episode 184, we’ll dive into streamlining your operations so prioritization becomes second nature. We’ll talk automation, delegation, and how to reduce the noise so you can stay laser-focused on growth.
Until then, keep shining—and remember, when you prioritize what truly matters, success naturally follows.
